HISTORY:
A male in his 50s presents with epigastric pain and early satiety. CT scan showed 1.1 cm enhancing bladder mass. Transurethral resection of bladder tumor (TURBT) showed a 3-4 cm bladder tumor involving the right wall.
GROSS:
Received in formalin labelled “bladder tumor” are multiple fragments of tan-brown soft tissue measuring 2.3 cm x 2. cm x 0.7 cm.
AE1/AE3, p40, NKX3.1 stains were also done and read as negative.
What is the most likely diagnosis?
- Malignant melanoma
- Metastatic renal cell carcinoma
- Carcinoid tumor
- Paraganglioma of urinary bladder
- Nested variant of urothelial carcinoma
