Research in our lab focuses on skin biology and cutaneous pathology. We are particularly interested in how inflammation and angiogenesis
contribute to skin cancer, wound healing and fibrosis. Recently, we have been studying the potential for vascular endothelial growth factor
(VEGF) to directly stimulate keratinocytes and fibroblasts by signaling through the VEGF receptors, and the role this signaling pathway
might play in skin carcinogenesis and wound repair. Our lab also uses a model of scarless fetal wound healing to study potential mechanisms of skin regeneration.
