Mohammed Alsomali, MD

Hi, my name is Mohammed Alsomali; I was born and raised in the Eastern Province of Saudi Arabia, where I went to University of Dammam Medical School. During my training in my home country I had met some of the US trained pathologists who were very knowledgeable, kind, and down to earth and they have inspired me to pursue my training in the United States, so I ended up joining the Ohio State University pathology residency. It was such an excellent decision of my life and I really enjoyed being a part of the team. During my free time, I like playing and watching sports, especially soccer. I also like to enjoy going to authentic restaurants!

I was born in British Columbia, Canada where I lived most of my life. I later obtained a bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering at the University of Alberta. After working for a few years I decided to switch careers and attend medical school at the Medical University of the Americas. Throughout medical school I fell in love with pathology and the intricate details that are involved. The ability to see on a cellular level the pathophysiology of a disease is fascinating. I enjoy many hobbies such as reading, charcoal drawing, playing squash and skiing.

I was born in China but I grew up all over the place, in Canada, Michigan, Chicago, and New York. I went to college at Northwestern University in Chicago, and medical school at New York Medical College. I also did two years in internal medicine prior to making the switch to pathology. In general, I am an extremely curious person, and I am fascinated by a diverse range of subjects, as I can chat endlessly from marine biology to geopolitics. I also possess a mean ping-pong hand, so if you ever see me, feel free to challenge me to a match!
