The Division of Renal and Transplant Pathology continues to grow. Our renal biopsy referral service extends to seven states and over 40 hospitals. Our transplant biopsy volume continues
to be high, and, in addition to renal allograft biopsies, we sign out all heart and pancreas transplant biopsies. We provide state of the art renal biopsy interpretation with a fast (one day) turnaround
time. Dr. Tibor Nadasdy serves as the division director with support from Dr. Anjali Satoskar, Dr. Sergey Brodsky and Dr Jessica Hemminger. The division is also supported by Dr. Gyongyi Nadasdy, Laboratory
Manager; Ed Calomeni, Director of the Electron Microscopy Laboratory; Cherri Bott, Lead IF Laboratory Tech.; along with Stephanie Laus, Philip Terry McBride and Kyle Ware.
The division is engaged in numerous research projects. Several collaborative studies with the Nephrology Division of the Department of Internal Medicine and the Comprehensive Transplant Center are ongoing. They
include, among others, “warfarin-associated nephropathy” (recently described by us), staphylococcus infection-associated glomerulonephritis, the pathogenesis of lupus nephritis, proteomics of a variety of glomerular
diseases and micro-RNAs in allograft rejection and infection.
