Biosketch

Jian Chen, MD, PhD, is an Assistant Professor at The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center. He serves as the Medical Director of the Clinical Coagulation Laboratories at The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center and The James Cancer Hospital. He is also the director of the Biomarker Reference Laboratory in the Department of Pathology. He is board certified in clinical pathology and Blood Banking/Transfusion Medicine. His practice and academic interests are therapeutic apheresis and transfusion services, thrombosis and hemostasis, cell therapy, and autoimmune diseases.

Dr. Chen is very interested in medical education. Besides teaching pathology residents, fellows, and hematology/oncology fellows, Dr. Chen also teaches transfusion medicine to 2nd year medical students at The Ohio State University College of Medicine. He built up the training program in coagulation at OSU for fellows of different specialties including hematology and oncology, hematopathology, and transfusion medicine. In addition, he volunteered to teach serology to undergraduate students with a forensic major. In recognition of his effort in teaching, he received the Clinical Pathology Faculty Teaching Award at OSU in 2016.
