Biosketch
Ashwini Kumar Esnakula, MBBS, MS, is an Associate Professor in the Department of Pathology. Dr. Esnakula received his MBBS from Kasturba Medical College, Mangalore, India, and MS in tumor biology from Georgetown University, Washington DC. He completed his residency in Anatomic and Clinical Pathology at Howard University Hospital, Washington, DC. His fellowship training includes a Surgical Pathology fellowship at Washington University/Barnes Jewish Hospital, St. Louis, MO and a Gastrointestinal (GI), Hepatic, and Pancreaticobiliary Pathology Fellowship at Cleveland Clinic, Cleveland, OH.
After training, Dr. Esnakula joined the University of Florida, Gainesville, FL, as a Clinical Assistant Professor with primary clinical responsibilities in GI/Liver, Gynecologic, and Genitourinary pathology. He also served as medical director of gross room laboratory for more than three years and unit director of Gynecologic Pathology for one year. He was promoted Clinical Associate Professor at UF in 06/2020.
Dr. Esnakula joined the Department of Pathology at The OSU Wexner Medical Center in 08/2020. His clinical and research interests are in GI/Liver Pathology, Gynecologic Pathology, and laboratory management. He is currently the medical director of histology.
