Biosketch
I did my medical school and clinical internship in India, followed by a 5-year residency in Clinical and Anatomic pathology partly at the Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center, Boston, MA and last 2 years at the Ohio State University. I have spent a few years in basic research before and after residency and then a 2-year fellowship in Renal and Transplant Pathology. After completing fellowship in Renal and Transplant Pathology I joined as faculty at the Ohio State University in 2017. I have been practicing Nephropathology for the past 15 years. I was promoted to full Professor and now appointed Director of the Renal and Transplant Pathology Division. My division has four additional faculty members, 8-10 technologists and usually a fellow. We receive and process over 1800 medical kidney biopsies not only from within our own hospital but also from outside referring hospitals in several states across the country. We also provide biopsy reads over the weekend for stat cases. I have been very active in clinical and translational research and have published over 90 peer-reviewed manuscripts, and book chapters My area of research is mainly Staphylococcal infection-associated glomerulonephritis; and others include amyloidosis and transplant pyelonephritis. I have taught at all levels – medical students, residents and fellows and also conducted international courses. Over the years, I have helped build the Renal pathology practice within the department of Pathology and fulfilled all the three missions : Clinical service, teaching and research.
