I received my MD from Zhengzhou University School of Medicine in China, did my AP/CP residency in Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai in New York City and became a gastrointestinal (GI) pathologist after learning GI pathology from the most knowledgeable and inspiriting mentor Dr. Rodger Haggitt. As a practicing GI pathologist for more than 20 years, I approach the daily work as a process of solving medical puzzles. With clinical team and colleague’s support, it is a rewarding and exciting career with tremendous responsibility. However, very often I encounter questions with no answers and disease with no treatment. There are so many unknowns in biology and medicine waiting there for us to decipher. Working in an academic medical environment allows me to be a part of making discoveries. I also enjoy engaging students, residents, fellows, junior faculty and other trainees to join this journey. It is my belief and goal that by working together we can advance the field of medicine at a much faster pace to deliver better care to patients. I am also increasingly interested in machine/deep learning in digital pathology. I strive to make impact in both clinical medicine and research discovery.
