Current Fellows
Ryan Reagans, MD
Area of Focus: Cytopathology
I grew up in Dayton, Ohio and obtained a Bachelor of Science in Chemistry at Ohio State. After working as a medical scribe and then as a chemist, I received my medical education at the University of Toledo. I also had the privilege of completing a year-long student “fellowship” in pathology at the University of Toledo following my third year of medical school, during which I fell in love with pathology as a specialty. As an OSU resident physician, I have served as our program's Wellness Committee President and Resident Advisory Council Representative; I am currently the Clinical Pathology Chief Resident. I look forward to spending an additional year at OSU as a cytopathology fellow beginning in 2026. My hobbies include singing (mainly to myself), playing video games, and reading mystery, science fiction, and fantasy novels.

Saba Shafi, MD
Area of Focus: Dermatopathology
I am originally from Kashmir where I went to medical school and completed a residency in Anatomic Pathology. I moved to the United States in 2017 and completed my postdoctoral fellowship at Yale University followed by an AP/CP residency at The Ohio State University where I served as the AP chief resident. I went on to complete my fellowship in Bone and Soft Tissue Pathology at the Cleveland Clinic and am excited to be back at The Ohio State for my Dermatopathology fellowship.

Aaron Chow, DO, PhD
Area of Focus: Gastrointestinal
I grew up in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada, where I completed my undergraduate training in biological and physical sciences. I continued on to a Master’s degree at the University of Alberta in the Department of Laboratory Medicine and Pathology, where I studied antibody mediated rejection of kidney transplants using mouse models. I then joined the DO-PhD combined degree program at Michigan State University in the College of Osteopathic Medicine and the Department of Physiology. This culminated to my dissertation entitled “Enteric Glial Modulation of Immune Activation During Inflammatory Stress”. I’m interested in immunology / inflammation research, along with the developments of digital pathology and AI image analysis. OSU is an excellent place to be trained in those areas. I will be continuing my training as a GI pathology fellow here at OSU starting in 2026. In my free time, I enjoy photo- & videography, video / board games, and hanging out with my pets (corgi, calico cat, two holland lop rabbits, and coral / saltwater fish).

Lucas Bushrow, DO
Area of Focus: Hematopathology
I grew up in Sylvania, Ohio, and attended The Ohio State University to earn my undergraduate degree in health sciences. I completed medical school in Athens, Ohio, at Ohio University Heritage College of Osteopathic Medicine. I am extremely excited to be back in Columbus completing my pathology residency at OSU, where I will stay for a hematopathology fellowship. Go Bucks! Columbus is where I learned to love myself and found a community that I consider to be my family. My favorite spots in Columbus include the Short North, Scioto Riverfront, and the North Market. Outside of work I like to listen to audiobooks, hangout with my friends, compete in multiple Stonewall sports leagues, travel, and work out.

Area of Focus: Transfusion Medicine
I completed my medical training at Alexandria Medical School in Egypt, a place that laid the foundation for my journey in medicine. After graduation, I spent a year serving as a doctor on a remote island in the Maldives—a deeply humbling and formative experience. I later moved to the United States, where I pursued anatomic and clinical pathology training at the University of Louisville in Kentucky. Over time, I developed a strong passion for hematopathology and feel incredibly grateful to have matched into a fellowship at The Ohio State University. Beyond medicine, I have a curious mind and enjoy exploring programming and electronics in my spare time. I roast my own coffee, love firing up the grill for BBQs, and find joy in cooking and sharing meals with others.
